PCT in Marlborough Schools

Marlborough Youth Trust (MYT) in partnership with Marlborough Blue Light Ventures (MBLV) have built their own PCT equipment which we take in to schools around the Marlborough District.

The concept for this came about in 2009 when Senior Constable Tim Goodyer of Picton Police, organised for the Picton & Blenheim CACTUS students to run through the Police Competent Training (PCT) course at their respective Colleges.  The students had a great time pitting themselves against the clock and each other.

The event was such a great success with the students and college staff alike, that it was suggested it be run during 'Youth Week' whereby all Marlborough Colleges could challenge each other for a PCT challenge Cup. However the course equipment was not available during this time.

MYT and MBLV, in conjunction with the Marlborough District Youth Council, provided the funds and the PCT equipment was built to Police specifications.

The inter-college PCT competition is scheduled for Youth week, which is held in the last week of May each year. In preparation the course is taken around all four colleges, namely Marlborough Boys, Marlborough Girls, Queen Charlotte College and Rai Valley.

The 'Youth Week' PCT challenge has turned into a highly successful annual event which has had many positive comments back from students and college staff alike. The 'PCT Challenge Cup" is handed to the winning team.

CONGRATULATIONS TO QUEEN CHARLOTTE COLLEGE WHO TOOK OUT THE 2017 CHALLENGE CUP!!

2ND Place : Marlborough Boys College
3RD Place: Marlborough Girls College
